Finger Painting
at 11:55AM, 1:55PM, and 3:55PM
As long as you're willing to get your hands dirty, renowned artist and founder of the Southern Palette, Allen Montague has got something unique for you to do the next time the little ones come to spend the day… finger painting. While finger painting is rarely taken seriously as an art form, Allen Monegue, Suzanne and Lakin, an adorable 9 year old girl, show you how you can create your very own masterpiece. According to Montague, finger painting has evolved into something much more than hands on a canvas. This art form has been used for therapeutic purposes for Alzheimer's, M.S and stroke victims. Allen claims "This tactile exercise stimulates the nerves and changes everything for them." With three fingers Allen dips into one color of paint and makes a dab. He repeats this step a few more times down the middle of the canvas using a different color each time. Then he demonstrates how to use a spray bottle to squirt water on the paint and lets it run down the page for a beautiful effect. Using a plastic floppy designs and smudges can be made. It can be as abstract as you want and as detailed as you want, what matters is the relaxation and the bonding that you can do with your grandchildren. The one thing that Allen Montague says is important is to paint from the heart not the head. "Paint like a child and have fun with it". Let out your inner child and remember there is no right or wrong with finger painting, besides it's your space that it will be hung up in and will always remind you of the time spent bonding. As shown at the end, you can even sign the back of your painting using your entire hand. Just dip your hand into some paint and press to leave your handprint behind. Have fun, hang it up and enjoy for years to come.
